AP 50th Aniv.

General Description

The year 2007 marks the 50th anniversary of the Asahi Pentax (AP) camera and in memory of this fact Pentax built a design study model based on Pentax K10D. The original AP was the first camera to feature a pentaprism and was the first body in Pentax's history. This is surely the reason why the AP 50th Aniv. body features such a prominent and "old-fashioned" viewfinder.

There is just one prototype of the AP 50th Aniv. body, and on 19 October, 2007 I was able to see it and photograph it. Since it is a prototype, however, I was unable to photograph with it. Since the AP 50th Aniv. body is heavily based on the K10D (except for the lack of a built-in flash), I've listed as features of the K10D as features of the AP 50th Aniv. body. Apparently the prototype is really just for celebrating the 50th anniversary, and Pentax has no plans to build the body, not even in a small batch.
